The pavilion part of the Momijitei tea house, usually shuttered, is opened with ikebana and panels. The tatami rooms stay closed.

About the garden
A garden built into the Musashino escarpment, with a spring-fed pond at the bottom and a tea house on the rim looking down over the maples. Two minutes from Kokubunji Station.

Practical notes
Thirty minutes west of Shinjuku on the Chuo line. Small but with real topography; the maples are among the best in Tokyo and almost no tourists know it.
