Inside the normally closed temple you sit in the main hall with matcha and a sweet, looking out on a three-stage tea garden.
Nearest stop: Myoshinji Kitamon-mae. The temple has no website; dates were confirmed on the city tourism site and in Hanagokoro's package notice.
About the garden
A Myoshin-ji sub-temple founded as the memorial temple of Sanada Nobuyuki, elder brother of the celebrated samurai Yukimura. The garden is a tea path in three stages, outer, middle and inner, with moss, stepping stones and lanterns under maples. In the autumn opening you view it from the main hall over matcha and a sweet.
Where to stand
From the main hall, trace the stepping stones from the outer garden through the middle to the inner garden and the Yurin-ken tea room. Locate the lanterns, the stone basin for washing hands and the waiting bench, and you can see where guests were meant to pause on the way in.

Open Nov 10–Dec 5, 2026, 9:00–16:00 (last entry 15:30); ¥1,000 includes matcha and a sweet. Use the Myoshinji Kitamon-mae (north gate) bus stop. Hanagokoro, the restaurant in Myoshin-ji's Hanazono Kaikan, sells a lunch-plus-entry package (¥5,500) for the same dates; with it you collect your ticket at the restaurant.
