Hamarikyu moon-viewing walk and 80th-anniversary evenings

- 21–23 Oct and 30 Oct–3 Nov only, 9:00–21:00 (last entry 20:30). The Naka-no-gomon gate shuts at 17:00; use the Otemon gate after that.

- Regular admission only (¥300, ¥150 for 65+); no separate night ticket.

- No bookingOnly the 23 Oct moon-viewing guided tour needs booking (¥500, 20 per group).
21–23 Oct: soft lighting on the paths and trees for moon viewing. 30 Oct–3 Nov: umbrella-themed lighting for the garden's 80th anniversary. Traditional music every evening, and the island tea house stays open until 20:30.
Some areas are closed off after 17:00, and tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed. At night you enter and leave by the Otemon gate on the Shiodome side, so plan dinner that way.
About the garden
A tidal pond fed by Tokyo Bay, ringed by the Shiodome skyscrapers. Matcha is served in the tea house on the island. A water bus leaves from the garden for Asakusa, which makes for a good route.
Where to stand
Sit in the island tea house and watch the water level. The tide changes how much of the shore rocks you see; the only garden in Tokyo that moves.
Practical notes
Combine with the water bus to Asakusa (departs from inside the garden). The 300-year-old pine near the entrance is the most famous tree in Tokyo gardens. Tea house on the island: ¥850 with a sweet.
